Daily Dribbles- 1-18-13

--College of Charleston lost to Georgia Southern, 51-47. The Eagles have beaten Davidson and College of Charleston this week at home. The Cougars have now looked good in only one of their five games in the SoCon in the past two weeks- they nearly lost to Furman, lost to Samford, nearly lost to The Citadel, lost to Georgia Southern, and dominated the Mocs. The Cougars game at Davidson on Saturday night is now very important for College of Charleston. A loss would put them in real danger of falling out of a bye spot in the SoCon Tournament.

--By the way, the score of the CofC-GSU game at halftime was 20-13. Ugh.

--Samford beat Western Carolina, 64-60. The Catamounts now have lost back-to-back games in the SoCon this week, and the Bulldogs suddenly find themselves atop the SoCon North. That's quite a surprising turn of events for the Bulldogs. The Catamounts trip to Chattanooga is huge on Saturday, and Samford hosting Appalachian State is going to be massive as well. This is going to be another huge night on Saturday night for the SoCon North.

--Davidson pretty much methodically dominated The Citadel on Thursday night, showing why they are still the SoCon favorites, winning 70-38. Look- say what you want about the way College of Charleston and Davidson have been inconsistent this year. But they are still the two favorites to be playing on Monday in March. Saturday night will tell us a lot about where the two teams are.

  1. It's been a very disappointing turn of events for the Catamounts, given the way they are playing, I think they could easily lose the next several games.
