That. Was. Not. Pretty.
But it's time to move on. The big thing is what happens on Thursday and Saturday against two North Division foes. The Mocs are capable of winning both of those, and need to recognize that and move on.
But this was ugly. This was brutally ugly from the beginning. The Mocs kept on turning the ball over earlhy, while the Cougars protected the ball. The Mocs needed to win the turnover battle by a wide margin to have a chance in this one. They did not do that. They wound up only committing two more turnovers.
The Mocs also were outrebounded by a ton. They lost the rebounding battle by 14. That was very unlike the Mocs and it destroyed the Mocs chances.
Also, there were a ton of bad shots in this one. The Mocs simply did not show up shooting the ball well from the floor. They started pressing and did not take good shots.
Is there anything positive in this one? No. I really don't have anything. Yes, the Mocs showed more effort in the second half, but they did not even outscore the Cougars in that half. Really, the only thing I can see that makes the Mocs feel good is that if they were that bad in this one, there can't be that much bad left in them. They were terrible. Surely all of that is out of their system. Maybe the Mocs can win on Thursday and Saturday after all. But what do I know?
Terrible rebounding. Too many turnovers. Bad shot selection.
The Mocs lost. And it's over. Time to move on.
