Daily Dribbles- 1-4-13

--The SoCon schedule starts in earnest this Saturday night. UNCG's trip to Davidson is the Game of the Week on ESPN3. Will Trevis Simpson play? Who knows? His knee injury is one of the major stories in the SoCon right now. Simpson's health is critical to the Spartans. They have not been playing particularly well, but with Simpson, they could catch the Wildcats napping after Duke.

--Chattanooga's trip to Samford might be the most compelling match-up. Neither team has been particularly good, but Samford is 1-0 with a shot at 2-0 in SoCon play. The Mocs have been playing a little better and are trying to even their SoCon record at 1-1. Very interesting match-up.

--Furman's visit to College of Charleston could get ugly. Then again, the Cougars did lose to Anderson, so they are capable of losing to the Paladins. The Paladins will need to be at their best.

--In another semi-compelling game, Western Carolina heads to The Citadel. The Catamounts were stunned by a really bad Liberty team earlier this week. The Citadel is not good, but they may be able to win at home against the Catamounts if they aren't ready to play. Groselle is the real deal. Purple & Gold has a preview here.

--Speaking of The Citadel, the Bulldogs have a new initiative for varsity athletics, called The Lead Plan 2018. Very good summary (with links to the full plan) on The Sports Arsenal.

--Be sure to get your SoCon picks in. SoCon Pick 'Em for this week has a due time on Friday at 9 PM Eastern!
