ANALYSIS

The week started with a 5-3 North lead, but the North was going on the road for five games, three of them against teams considered top teams in the South. The South was expected to be no worse than down 7-6, and possibly up 7-6 or 8-5 at the end of the week. But it didn't happen. The North stunned the South in two road games (Appalachian State over Wofford and Samford over College of Charleston). That gave the North a commanding 9-4 lead on the season. Yes, there are still 35 games left, so this is far from over, but the North's current lead has been surprising. Can they keep it up? Who knows? But it is making for interesting fodder at this point.
