Daily Dribbles- 1-9-13

--Early early look at the Western Carolina-UNCG game on Saturday afternoon over on Purple & Gold. This would have been on the top of games of the season in the preseason. Yet, here we are, with the struggling Spartans, and the up and down Catamounts. This should be interesting.

--The most trusted Bracketologist on the planet, Joe Lunardi, has Davidson in the tournament as a 14 seed against Florida in the first round in Dayton, Ohio. The winner of that game would play the VCU-Memphis winner. This is all just projection, obviously....and very early. Still interesting to look at.

--UNCG hosts Lees-McRae on Wednesday night. This is not your average non-D1. This is a non-D1 that is 0-11. The Spartans should roll in this one. Dash has a preview.

--Jake Cohen of Davidson won the Player of the Week for this week. He averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game against Duke and UNCG. Cohen has come around and is playing much better as of late, after it was almost like preseason expectations were too much for him early in the year.

--Wait! How in the world did Appalachian State beat Wofford at Wofford on Tuesday night? The 50-49 win by the Mountaineers shows that they are inching their way closer to the top of the SoCon North. Nathan Healy and Tevin Baskin were the only Mountaineers scoring in double figures with ten each. Baskin made a layup with 2:32 left for the games final points. Baskin also came up with a block late in the game to preserve the win. Huge night for the Mountaineers.

--Chattanooga gets Dontay Hampton back on Thursday. Lance Stokes should be back from his injury in about another week. How will they work their way into the rotation?

--If you missed the Battle of North vs. South post from Tuesday night, here it is again, showing the North up 6-3 on the young season with 39 match-ups left.

--If you want to participate in the SoCon Pick 'Em, feel free. We will take entries all season long. Here is a link to Week Two. Here is a link to the current standings.
