SoCon Monster Game of the Week Recap- Georgia Southern 63, Wofford 49

Willie Powers stole the show as the Eagles were able to take the huge two game lead in the battle for the bye in the South.

Powers scored 14, had seven rebounds, and six assists. Ferguson added 15 points and eleven rebounds. Ben Drayton III scored 13, while Jelani Hewitt scored just eight.

This was an important game for Georgia Southern. They won tonight with some solid defense. The Terriers shot a mere 40% from the floor and made just 3 of 16 (18.8%) from three point range. Kevin Giltner was held to just seven points.

This showed a new side of Georgia Southern- one that has been coming out slowly. The defense was very good tonight. Slowing down the Terriers was huge. They were not dominant on offense tonight, though they did play well enough on the offensive end.

The Eagles now have a two game lead in the division. With their last four games, they can still blow this lead. They go to The Citadel on Saturday night, then host UNCG, before heading to College of Charleston, and hosting Davidson. Their schedule could easily produce two or three losses. They could lose this lead. But with the way they are playing right now, they look good. Can the Terriers turn their slump around and start winning again to put some pressure on them?
