1) Trevis Simpson has been named the SoCon Player of the Week. The UNCG star certainly deserves it. Over the last six games, he has not scored less than 23 in a game, and has averaged nearly 26 a year, while the Spartans have gone 5-1 in that span. The sophmore scored 25 against Samford and 28 against Chattanooga last week in leading the Spartans on a perfect road trip. You want to talk SoCon Player of the Year? This week's Scanning the SoCon will ask everyone who they are voting for for Player of the Year. I expect the names that come up to be Davidson's De'Mon Brooks and Jake Cohen, Georgia Southern's Eric Ferguson, Wofford's Brad Loesing, College of Charleston's Antwaine Wiggins, The Citadel's Mike Grosselle, and Simpson. I'd be surprised if anyone else gets even a mention. I'd be surprised if Simpson wasn't towards the top of the list.
2) Of the top five in the league in minutes played, two play for Wofford and two play for Charleston. Kevin Giltner and Brad Loesing lead the league in minutes per game for the Terriers. Andrew Lawrence is third in the league, while Antwaine Wiggins is fifth for the Cougars. Both of these teams are in line to play four games in four days at the moment in the SoCon Tournament. Both are very good and very dangerous, but may not be quite deep enough to really be a threat to win four games in four days. That will be something to watch if either team is in the semifinals.
