ANALYSIS

Things are shaken up a little bit after Chattanooga's performance last week in the Dr Pepper Classic. They jumped up to number four in Pomeroy's rankings, to become the first team to crack the top six in several weeks. Appalachian State had been number seven in all the rankings as well. In the Sagarin rankings, the Mocs have moved ahead of the Mountaineers into the seven spot as well. The RPI is the lone holdout on the Mocs at this point keeping them at number ten.

The SoCon is ranked 22nd in the RPI rankings, which is a big improvement.  The SoCon is moving up little by little. The conference is not exactly highly regarded, but if they can hang around number twenty, then that will be good for the SoCon, and the potential SoCon champ.

It's pretty clear that Wofford is moving up to number three and that Elon's claim on the third spot is rapidly weakening. The Terriers upset win over Wake Forest has established that Wofford is going to be a threat to win their third straight tournament title. Davidson and College of Charleston have clearly established themselves as the top two teams.

Western Carolina and Furman are not bad teams either and are making some moves. Things are really getting interesting in these rankings. This weekend with two sets of SoCon games will only lead to more drastic changes.

Next update: Friday.
