1) It was a decent night for the SoCon last night. Chattanooga and UNC-Greensboro hung close against Tennessee and Miami, while Wofford beat Wake Forest. Both The Citadel and Georgia Southern hammered their non-D1 opponents. All in all, no complaints about the night from a SoCon perspective. It would have been nice to come up with another win. What does this mean? That the North may be a five team race after all, with the Spartans sneaking into the mix with the other four, and the South number three is getting closer and closer to belonging to the Terriers.
2) With SoCon play kicking off again on Thursday, now is as good of a time as any to look at where things are. Chattanooga has a huge weekend, playing Western Carolina and Appalachian State. Those teams were the preseason favorites in the North. If the Mocs want to get into the race in the North, they need to win both of these games against teams that are a combined 3-1 in SoCon play so far. UNCG is 0-3 in the North, and hosts Davidson. They absolutely need to win if they want to get into the bye race. Furman hosts The Citadel and College of Charleston. The Paladins are 0-2 in SoCon play so far. Georgia Southern is 2-0 in SoCon play, and they travel to Elon and Davidson, who are a combined 4-0 in SoCon play. This is a weekend that the Eagles can really prove themselves. These are the teams with the most to prove this weekend in SoCon play.
