Keegan Bell is in a slump. No one should question that or doubt that. He's struggling a bit with his shot and even with his passing right now.
It really all started the night Omar Wattad was out and Ricky Taylor's wrist was acting up. The Mocs needed someone to step up and Bell knew it. So he tried to force things.
He went 1 for 13 from the floor, and 1 for 10 from three point range, and scored just three points that night against Appalachian State. But he did have seven assists and just one turnover.
Since then, the pressure seems to have continued mounting on Bell. He went 4 for 19 from the floor (21%) in his next two games. He had five turnovers in both games, which means ten total. He had a combined six assists in the two games.
That's not good. Not for someone averaging nearly eight assists per game prior to those two games.
Bell seems to be pressing a bit right now- and that's fine. Even if he does not get his shot falling, he needs to focus on what he does best for this team. That means getting the ball to his teammates in positions to score.
Will he break out of his slump this weekend? I don't know. But if the Mocs are going to come up with one or two road wins this weekend, then he needs to snap out of it now. This is the time for him to snap out of it.
GO MOCS!
