Daily Dribbles-12/5/13

--The SoCon got four wins on Wednesday and two of them were over D1 teams. To beat that, the
SoCon won two road games. Wofford beat Gardner-Webb and Davidson stunned Charlotte in overtime. Those are two decent wins for the SoCon. So, in a way, it was good work by the SoCon on Tuesday.

--On the other hand, the SoCon lost in blowout fashion two winnable games. Samford was beaten at home by UT-Martin by 16, beating down the favorite preseason darling in the SoCon, dropping them to 0-7 against D1 competition. Furman, who early in the season was looking much improved, was hammered by Fordham on the road by 31 points. Yes, Fordham was a definite favorite. But they probably should not be beating Furman by 31 points.

--On the reasonable side of the ledger of losses, Western Carolina lost by 8 at Coastal Carolina. The Citadel hung close with Navy, but lost by 5. Those are both respectable losses for the SoCon.

--I had been looking forward to some posts from Dash regarding the Presbyterian loss on Tuesday night. While the analysis was not too....ummmm....colorful, but his initial instant reaction is worth reviewing.

--From the good side of the SoCon ledger on Monday night, The Pendulum has a write up on the Elon win over VMI.

--For those who haven't been following the Dork Tour, I invite you to. Very good reads.

  1. I have been stewing over that game for the last 2 days. It was awful hard to write what I really wanted to about it. I could single out people individually, but it wouldn't do any good. In the end, it was coaching. We didn't show up ready and then spent the next 30 mintues looking for the mythical 20 point shot. Lack of focus for more then 2 or 3 possessions has been killer all season long. I afraid it is gonna be a season long trend.
