Antwaine Wiggins was amazing tonight. He lead the Cougars to the dramatic win over the Vols. He made 10 of 12 shots and lead the way for the Cougars.
This win was anything but unexpected. They are the better team right now. There is no question that the Cougars are the better team. Trae Golden was shut down to just 9 points, while Jordan McRae and Skylar McBee also made some big threes down the stretch to keep the Vols in the game.
Honestly, the Cougars are so clearly better than the Vols right now that this hardly even qualifies as a surprise. They are only going to get better as Adejhi Baru improves throughout this freshman year. He had eight points, but only two rebounds.
Wiggins, Matt Sundberg, and Trent Wiedemann were really just too much for the Vols on the inside. Andrew Lawrence had a terrible night shooting, but still managed 14 points. He should have significantly better nights in the future.
The Cougars can beat anyone on a given night. They will have a shot to take down Louisville next week on the road. That could be a great game- and give the Cougars a real shot at an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
