1) Davidson's loss to UNC-Charlotte over the weekend was ugly- and not only was it ugly, but it probably really hurts the Wildcats chances of getting an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. In fact, barring an upset of Kansas or running the conference table all the way to the title game, this probably put an end to those hopes. Can't have losses like this in a blowout fashion and expect to get an at-large bid. All in all, not a good week for Davidson, who came up just short against Vanderbilt at home, and then were destroyed by the 49ers.
2) Appalachian State continues to be a puzzle. That makes two blowout losses to East Tennessee State for the year. The same week, they nearly pull off an upset at Minnesota. So which Mountaineers are for real? It's tough to tell from here. It looks like they are struggling to fit all the pieces together at this point. They go to North Carolina on Saturday, so more than likely that is not the place to try and get well. This Mountaineers team may continue to be a mystery (like so much of the North seems to be at this point) well into conference play.
