Double Dribbles- 12-9-11

1) There are ten games this weekend involving SoCon teams. With the conference lagging in the RPI rankings (currently 28th, though projected to finish 25th according to RPIForecast.com), Georgia Southern's trip to Eastern Kentucky, ETSU's visit to Appalachian State, Chattanooga's trip to Mercer, Davidson's battle with Charlotte, and Western Carolina's home battle against Kent State are probably the biggest games, because those are all winnable against decent opponents. The SoCon has struggled to come up with big out of conference wins this  year. It has been ugly so far. This weekend could turn into a big weekend for the conference with the right wins.

2) Appalachian State was blown out by ETSU in their visit to the Minidome earlier this year. Now the Mountaineers get their chance against the Bucs at home. The Bucs used to be in the SoCon, and they always were a battle. They were a tough out for every team. Can the Mountaineers get their revenge and help out the Bucs old conference? This would be a big win for Appalachian State. They seem to struggle for stretches of every game and that's why they are struggling. They lost to Minnesota in the last four minutes, where they got blown out. The Mountaineers got destroyed by Georgia Southern in the first half. They need to try to put a full game together. That would be a good win for the SoCon.
