Double Dribbles- 12-14-11

1) Brad Loesing was named the SoCon Player of the Week for last week. His 24 points led the way as Wofford upset previously unbeaten Tulane at home. He also had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists against Virginia-Wise in the closer than expected win. Loesing is one of the few returning players for the Terriers this year. He is the conference leader in minutes played so far. He has been the Terriers best player, and is the reason that their fall off this year has not been anywhere near as steep as expected.

2) Mike Dement is out as UNCG's head coach. His run was not very successful this time around, especially since Kyle Hines left. Part of that is the murderer's row schedule that the administration handed him. Part of it was not getting the parts to play up to their abilities. Part of it was the players being a little too outspoken on Twitter. Regardless, the fan base was growing apathetic, and in some cases even turning on the team to some degree after the Twitter insults. It was time for a change- and I'm not one in favor of in-season changes normally. This was really a rare exception. Nonetheless, I wish him nothing but the best because he genuinely seems to be a good guy.
