SoCon Monster Game of the Week Announcement- Davidson at New Mexico

ESPN's tip off marathon has become an integral part of the season. It has become one of the most fun things that happens at the beginning of the season. Honestly, while opening night was Friday, and there were some nice games that night, the tip off marathon is when I really think the season starts. It's fun.

This year, a SoCon team is participating in the 2 AM game. That team just happens to be the highest profile team in the SoCon- the Davidson Wildcats. They are going on the road to take on a highly regarded New Mexico team in one of the toughest venues in the country- The Pit.

This is a marquee game. While there are other marquee games this week (College of Charleston at home against St. John's anyone?), this is the biggest game. The vote in the weekly poll by our Scanning the SoCon participants left little doubt about that.

This is certainly not going to be an easy game for either team. This is going to be a war between two high profile teams that could easily win games in the NCAA Tournament. In Pomeroy's rankings, New Mexico is ranked number 24 and Davidson is ranked number 42. This will be a highly entertaining game.
