There IS Something Wrong

You all know that I am generally positive about the Mocs. But I try to identify things that I think are wrong when I see them.

And there is something glaringly wrong right now.

The Mocs got 30.5 rebounds over the last two games. Their opponents collected 36.5 over these last two games. This from a team that has been dominating the glass in SoCon play.

Yes, the Mocs beat Georgia Southern, but the fact that they only got 23 rebounds compared to the Eagles 23 was a sign that something was not right. I thought it was fixable and that it would be fixed by the Davidson game. Boy was I wrong. The Wildcats outrebounded the Mocs 50-38. And that is reason number one the Mocs lost the game.

The good news for the Mocs- they've tended to play poorly in twos this year. Now that they have a little bit of time off, maybe they come out with a fire again against Western Carolina and Appalachian State- each critical games to the North race.

Also, the Mocs should be able to correct whatever problems they are having on the boards. This has been a team strength. So, the Mocs should be able to get back to work and correct this problem. With the way Shulman emphasizes rebounding, I'm sure he is on it right now.

The Mocs have a major flaw right now, and no matter what anyone else thinks, it is the fact that the strength that we have been relying on has become a fatal flaw. Until that gets corrected, the Mocs will continue to flounder.

Let's hope it is corrected by Thursday night.

GO MOCS!
