SoCon Monster Game of the Week: Davidson at Furman

Davidson has won five straight after winning just one of eight games. That one of eight? Davidson beat Furman at home. If the Wildcats were able to beat Furman for a second time, Davidson would be within two games of the Paladins, and have the tiebreaker.

Yep- the Paladins need to look out, because that object in the mirror (long left for dead) is closer than they appear.

In their first match-up, Amu Saaka scored just six points. That was his second lowest scoring output of the season. Jordan Miller did have a tremendous game, though. He scored 21 points. The Wildcats dominated the boards, 30-20. Nik Cochran scored 22 off the bench for the Wildcats, and De'Mon Brooks put home 11. JP Kuhlman scored 13.

It was a great performance by the Wildcats.

And this is how Davidson has been winning games. They've been rebounding well, and they've been relying on Brooks to be a monster coming off the bench. Brooks has turned into a real star, even though he still is not getting huge minutes. He is the best player on the team, really. Even if that is not true, he has the best chance to develop into a true stud on the team.

Jake Cohen is the second leading scorer with 12 points per game, and 6.6 rebounds per game. Cohen has been coming on stronger lately. Over the last three games, he has averaged seven rebounds per game.

Amu Saaka has been averaging 17.1 points per game and has 6.3 rebounds per game. Noah States and Jordan Miller has been very good lately. States scored 11.5 points per game and has 5.2 rebounds per game.

Furman has lost just one home game all year. That was a four point loss to College of Charleston. They have lost two of their last five games. They lost at Western Carolina and at College of Charleston. They won at home against Georgia Southern and Appalachian State. They won at The Citadel.

Davidson just won at Wofford to really prove that they are on the rise. This is a great run for the Wildcats.

LEAD PIPE LOCK PREDICTIONS THAT ARE SURE TO GO WRONG
--Saaka vs. Cohen. Should be entertaining.
--Davidson will outrebound Furman.
--Furman will play inspired ball at home.
--Furman 78, Davidson 76. The Wildcats just can't keep on winning at this pace- can they? There's no way. Surely this is the game where they come back to earth at least a little bit. Furman at home is too tough of a task.
