Davidson beat College of Charleston last week, which left our Davidson rep, David, to pick the SoCon Monster Game of the Week for the second time in three weeks. I asked him to not consider any of the BracketBuster games since there are so many important SoCon games as we head down the stretch. Here is his choice, and why he picked it:
"I'm picking Saturday's Elon at Chattanooga game. Elon will be trying to seal
the North title and stay in contention for the #1 seed. Chattanooga will be
fighting for pride and trying to win their final home game. Elon won the first
meeting 85-61. Chattanooga was very successful in that game at getting to the
line. They shot 24 free throws to Elon's 8. Chattanooga is even better at
getting to the line at home. They watched Elon's Jack Isenbarger score 23
points and shoot 7-13 on 3-pointers. He'll be effective against Chattanooga's
young guards, but he won't make 7 threes. Drazen Zlovaric scored 0 and Lucas
Troutman had 18. I just can't see that happening again. Not in Zlovaric's
final home game. I'm picking Elon in this one, but by a very small margin.
72-68 sounds about right. But I'll be cheering for the Mocs."
