A daily preview of each SoCon game.
Wednesday Thought
The Phoenix are trying to keep faint hopes of winning the SoCon alive and the Spartans are trying to keep very faint hopes of getting the final bye alive. The Phoenix are more interested in getting up to the second or third seed, while the Spartans are trying to get into the sixth seed. This is a huge night for all the teams trying to get into seeding position 2-5 and 6-9.
Elon at UNCG
The Spartans are still looking for that breakthrough win against an elite SoCon team. The Spartans need to start getting them, because the next four are against top five competition. If the Spartans are going to get the six seed, they have to win a couple of these games. This is important for the Spartans. RJ White, Kyle Cain and Kayel Locke are the bigs for UNCG and they will be going up against Ryley Beaumont and Lucas Troutman for the Phoenix. The bigs are the best players on both teams. However, the Phoenix have the outside shooters to kick out to that make them so much more dangerous than the Spartans. The Spartans have been so close, and I keep on picking them to come up with that breakthrough win. It's hard to imagine Elon shoots 2 of 20 from three point range like they did in the first match-up between the two teams. If the Phoenix are a little hotter, it will create more problems for the Spartans trying to get the win. Elon sneaks out a win. Phoenix 71, Spartans 67.
