A daily preview of each SoCon game.
Monday Thought
Elon and Samford are the two most important teams in SoCon play this day. The Phoenix and the Bulldogs are each fighting for a higher seed in Asheville. This is a critical day as we head into the final week of the SoCon regular season.
Elon at Furman
The Phoenix Lucas Troutman in the paint and Furman's Adonis Rwabigwi and Kendrec Ferrara against him should be somewhat interesting and could feature a changing of the guard of sorts. The Paladins are itching to knock someone off, and this game almost feels like the situation to do it. Elon will be about to play Wofford and Davidson. This game is a real look past game for the Phoenix. But it is still critically important to their chances to get higher in the SoCon standings. The Paladins are hungry and senior Charlie Reddick will be gunning to come up with the big win. Of course, no Furman preview would be complete without mentioning Stephen Croone. Elon pulls it out in a very tight game. Phoenix 78, Paladins 76.
Samford at The Citadel
The Battle of the Bulldogs will be somewhat interesting. The Citadel is capable of pulling the home upset, especially if Ashton Moore keeps on playing like he has been. Moore has been lights out lately and the Bulldogs have been a dangerous club because of it. Samford will rely heavily on Tim Williams and Raijon Kelly, which is not surprising. Williams will be a big presence and tough to control. Again, do not be surprised if The Citadel pulls off the upset, but they are just not quite good enough to get it done, even at home. Samford Bulldogs 81, The Citadel Bulldogs 77.
