The snow changed the world.
Or at least the SoCon world.
All three games on Wednesday were postponed. The Davidson-The Citadel game was moved to this Monday. That didn't change a whole lot.
The UNCG-Georgia Southern game was moved from Wednesday to Thursday afternoon. That means that the Spartans and Eagles will be meeting the same day as Samford and Appalachian State. That's a really nice couple of match-ups for Thursday. With the Chattanooga-Western Carolina game being moved to Friday, that means two match-ups between the four teams chasing the top five are all hooking up on the same day and no other games. It's win or give up on the bye day for these SoCon teams.
Actually that's a pretty intriguing Thursday. I know people think that the first day at Asheville won't be worth being there for, but I think if it features games like the games on Thursday it would be fun.
The other Wednesday game between Furman and Elon moved to Monday, February 24. That means Furman will play five games in nine days to wrap up the year. Wow. That's intense. Elon will play five in ten days. Like I said, intense.
Chattanooga postponing their game against Western Carolina until Friday means very little, except that with it being on Valentine's Day, Chattanooga will probably have a smaller crowd and the Catamounts will actually get a bit of an advantage because of that. The Mocs have off until the following Thursday, so that does not make much of a difference. The Catamounts don't have a game until Sunday, so this turns into a Thursday-Saturday kind of week for them. Not a big deal for either side, honestly, other than the possible crowd advantage for Western Carolina.
The postponements have changed up the SoCon schedule. We'll have to see how it impacts any of these games.
Don't forget to be watching on Thursday at 2:00 for the UNCG-Georgia Southern game. It's a Thursday midday special!
