A daily preview of each SoCon game.
Thursday Thought
Two very big games in the SoCon race. One features two teams fighting to get into the bye race, and one features two teams fighting to improve their place in the SoCon Tournament. It should be a fun Thursday for SoCon action.
Western Carolina at Chattanooga
Z Mason. Trey Sumler. Tawaski King. Casey Jones. Rico White. Tom Tankelwicz. Brandon Boggs. Gee McGhee. James Sinclair. This game has some pretty solid SoCon players involved in it. It's hard to argue that this game is going to be a good one. The Catamounts are very good defensively. The biggest difference may be that the Catamounts put people on the line a lot, and the Mocs are great at getting to the line. The Catamounts don't get to the line much, and the Mocs don't put people on the line much. Combine all those things, and the Mocs might win this one from the free throw line, particularly at home. Mocs 73, Catamounts 66.
Samford at Appalachian State
The Mountaineers have one final shot to get into the bye. They really have to win out to get there. There is no way they can lose any more games with seven losses already. The Bulldogs are lead by Tim Williams and they have six SoCon losses already. They really can't afford another loss either. This is a massively important game for these two teams. Tommy Spagnolo is really coming on for the Mountaineers. The Bulldogs seem to be going back and forth with good performances and bad performances. That means they are due for a bad one. In Boone, the Mountaineers come up with the big win. Mountaineers 81, Bulldogs 79.
