The Mocs have lost.
A lot.
So far this year, the Mocs have a mere two wins. They are 2-8. They are just 1-6 at home, including 0-6 against D-1 competition.
However, to call the Mocs season over at this point is just not accurate.
The Mocs were blown out on just one occassion this year. They lost to Davidson by a large amount, and the Eastern Kentucky game was not the best, however, the Mocs have been in every other game until late in the second half.
The Mocs could beat Reinhardt on Friday afternoon, and are heavily favored to do so. The Dr Pepper Classic is when the next big moment arrives. After that, the SoCon schedule is the biggest game for the Mocs.
People are down around the program right now. They think the story has already been written on this team.
But the fact is that the story has not been written on this team yet. The SoCon is really down this year. The Mocs can run off some wins in this conference with how down it is. The Mocs need to position themselves to get a decent seed in the SoCon Tournament.
The moment of truth has far from come to this team. What happens when the Mocs go to Samford and The Citadel in January? What happens when Appalachian State and Western Carolina come to town after that? If the Mocs can somehow come up with a couple of wins in those games, then things would be OK.
Is that the moment of truth? Maybe, maybe not. We'll wait and see.
All I know is I'm not ready to give up on this team. The freshman are developing. They are fun to watch play. The SoCon schedule is not as hard as many seem to want to believe.
This season still has potential.
And call me crazy, but I'm still excited about it.
