Daily Dribbles- 12-14-12

--I hate to pile on (and after the blurb yesterday on the Cougars, I probably owe them a break), but what in the WORLD happened to the Cougars against Anderson? It was not just a close loss either, it was a total blowout for the Cougars. The final was 65-49. The Cougars scored 19 in the final half, and nine of those were in the final four minutes. For a team with a Top 100 RPI (#92 on Thursday), and a team that was ranked number two in the Scanning the SoCon Power Rankings, how does this happen? If The Citadel, Furman, Samford, Chattanooga, Georgia Southern or Appalachian State (the bottom six in the SoCon at this point) had lost to a non-D1, then it would not be nearly as surprising (or embarrassing) as this.

--Really- who had a worse week? Your options: Brian Okam, who could not get a free throw halfway to the basket and became the number one video on YouTube, or College of Charleston? Tough call.

--One very funny post from KingKresse. Hey- he's still got a sense of humor!

--My goodness. With Charleston's loss, I feel like Saturday's games take on even more importance. The SoCon desperately needs some good showings over the weekend. Samford (vs. Sam Houston State), Davidson (vs. UNC-Wilmington), Elon (at Massachusetts), and UNCG (vs. James Madison) are probably the most likely wins this weekend.

  1. You have no faith in the Catamounts?

  2. At Georgetown? I'd hardly list that as one of the most likely wins....

Then again, I never would have listed Illiniois either, and the Catamounts nearly pulled that one. So we'll see. Do you think they have a good shot at winning?

Good luck! I'll certainly take it if the Catamounts pull it off....

  3. I think they have a shot, if they can hold on to the ball, and they don't have any super long cold shooting periods. I'd like to see G'town have one of their cold shooting nights as well.

  4. They played well. Couldn't pull it off, but hung around.

Georgetown is too good for the Catamounts...and probably any team in the SoCon, outside of maybe Davidson.
