December to Remember...or Forget?

The Mocs have a much less busy month ahead, and have two games against non-D1's on the schedule. However, there are also three conference games. So this month has it's important games, and it's easy games. In other words, a much more "normal" slate of games.

Toughest Game- Murray State, December 11 3:00. The Racers are the best team in the OVC, and are probably the best team on the Mocs home schedule this year. This is a team that came very close to beating Butler in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year- and the Bulldogs went to the title game. Yes, Murray State is good enough to make a real run in the tournament this year. The Mocs will be coming off a week long break, and maybe they can get it going. This is a tough game.

Easiest Game- Reinhardt, December 21 7:00. Reinhardt and Montreat are both non-D1 teams, but Reinhardt is a little bit easier for one simple reason. Montreat is coached by ex-Moc Lincoln Watters. So, maybe the emotions of that game make it a little bit tougher, especially since that is the first game of the Dr Pepper Classic, and the Mocs will be playing another game the next night. The Mocs should be able to hammer Reinhardt.

Most Important Game- at Elon, December 17 6:00. It is almost a personal House of Horros for the Mocs. The Mocs always seem to struggle with Elon especially at Elon. If the Mocs want to be in contention for a bye in the North Division of the SoCon, they desperately need to win some conference road games. This is a golden opportunity. They will have had six days off. Can the Mocs win this one? They need to.

Predicted Record- 5-2. You want to hear something strange-the Mocs could easily be 5-2 this month despite the early season struggles. They have Montreat and Reinhardt as nearly guaranteed wins. That's 2-0, with five games left. They will beat Georgia State or Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the Dr Pepper Classic, which will not be an easy game. They will lose to Murray State, while winning one of the two home games against Applachian State and Western Carolina. Then they will beat Elon on the road. It is not that hard to imagine. They just need to start playing better. There is an outside chance of an awful 2-5 month. There is a pretty good chance at 4-3. This team is not in as deep of a hole as it would appear- I'm going optimistic here and saying 5-2.

GO MOCS!
