Look Ahead

There is only one game in the Battle of North vs. South this week- the Mocs against The Citadel. With the current tie between the two divisions at 4-4, this game is fairly pivotal on some level. By season's end, there will be 48 total games between the two divisions prior to the tournament. Right now, eight games have been completed.

The SoCon Monster Game of the Week is Appalachian State's visit to Western Carolina. Both teams should win their first game of the week (Appy is at home against UNCG and Western is at home against Elon). So, the Mountaineers should be 4-1 and heading to face the Catmounts, who should be 3-2. This is a nice rivalry, and a key game in the bye race from the North. This is a key game for the Mocs, Samford, Appy, and Western as they try to sort out the North race.

On SoCon Saturday on SportSouth, the Battle for Charleston is taking place. The Citadel has been really struggling and is 1-3 in SoCon play, with a home date against Chattanooga earlier in the week. College of Charleston is the only team without an in-week game, so they will be 4-0 heading into this game. This is one of the bigger rivalries in the SoCon.

The team with the biggest week has to be Davidson. The Wildcats are 1-3 in SoCon play, and host Furman and Wofford. If Davidson loses both times, they would be 1-5 and in big trouble in the SoCon race for a bye, or even the race for third, since they are facing the second and third place teams. If they can win both, then they find themselves right back into the SoCon South bye race. This is the biggest week Davidson may have had in a long long time.

GO MOCS!
