1) The SoCon had a solid night on Tuesday night. Western Carolina's win over Montreat was expected. Always good not to lose to non-D1s on the schedule. College of Charleston won on national TV at 8 AM over Morehead State, and Elon pulled off the stunner over South Carolina at home. The Mocs loss at Butler was respectable. That's a solid 3-1, 2-1 vs. D1 teams, and all of them were decent D1 teams. This is the sort of night that can help the SoCon in the long haul. Can Elon's win over South Carolina carry weight down the road for the Phoenix? Maybe. That's a good one.
2) Mike Groselle from The Citadel was named the SoCon Player of the Week. Groselle wound up wtih 41 points and 21 rebounds in the All Military Classic. That is an average of 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. Groselle has recorded three straight double-doubles dating back to last year's SoCon Tournament. He is going to be one of the top players in the SoCon this year, and the Bulldogs are relying heavily on Groselle. He is going to be huge if the Bulldogs are going to contend in the SoCon South.
