Double Dribbles-11-15-11

1) College of Charleston is battling Morehead State at 8 AM this morning on ESPN, as part of the 24 Hours of Basketball Tip-Off on ESPN. Some Cougar fans are grumbling about the early start time. Me? I love the idea. The 6 AM and 8 AM tip offs actually get some decent viewers. Take me for example. I'm likely to turn on the game as I get ready to go to work. I will not watch any of the 10 AM game. I will not watch any of the 2 PM game. But the 6 AM or the 8 AM game? Those fit right into my wheelhouse. This would be a good win for the Cougars against a good but rebuilding Morehead State team.

2) Davidson's win over Richmond and Furman's win over Columbia highlighted the 2-1 night for the SoCon. That's two solid showings for the conference. The Paladins win was the first road win for the conference on the season. Considering Furman was not expected to be that good, this was a very nice win for the Paladins. They are 2-0. Davidson also is 2-0 as they head to Cameron to take on Duke. They won over a team that advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last year. Great set of wins for the SoCon. We'll ignore UNCG's loss to Georgetown for now.....Hopefully the SoCon can build on it Tuesday, when CofC hosts Morehead State, Chattanooga goes to Butler, Western Carolina hosts Montreat, South Carolina goes to Elon, and Appalachian State heads off to ETSU.
