--Friday night was utterly disappointing. Western Carolina had a shot against Virginia Tech pre-game, but did not show up. Furman and Elon were up late against Florida Gulf Coast and Charlotte, but both failed to pull it off. Very disappointing evening, particularly for Furman and Elon.--Drexel-Elon in Piscataway is a huge showdown in the Preseason NIT. In fact, it may be the best opening round game of the whole Preseason NIT. Elon has a real shot at getting to New York and playing in the NIT Final Four. Drexel thinks the same thing. This is going to be very interesting for the Phoenix.
--One bright spot from the weekend? Western Carolina beating Liberty on Saturday night. The Catamounts have looked pretty good so far. Something else that helps? UNC-Asheville (one of the Catamounts victims without Trey Sumler) beat College of Charleston.
--UNCG (and the rest of the SoCon) took care of business against non-D1s over the weekend. UNCG beat Chowan on Sunday night.
