The Dolphins beat Syracuse last night. And no, this is not the Miami Dolphins beating Syracuse football team, which would not be news really. Unless a Syracuse player actually held his own in the game. Former Duke point guard/ current Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus could have thrown eight interceptions and it may have been deemed a success.
The LeMoyne Dolphins upset Syracuse in an exhibition basketball game. Is this the end of college basketball as we know it?
Yes.
Wait, no. Not at all. Syracuse is young and still feeling each other out. That is no excuse (after all, Kentucky pounded away at Campbellsville, and the Wildcats are very young). But the Orange can learn from this. Exhibition games can be odd things. LeMoyne treated it like their Super Bowl (if only the NFL's Dolphins could get to the Super Bowl), and Syracuse treated it like they were playing an exhibition game in early November.
Syracuse will be fine. A couple of teams blow an exhibition game every year, and everyone freaks out and blows it out of proportion. It doesn't mean much to the loser. It makes the winner's season.
And if push comes to shove, the Orange can always get their quarterback to come and play point guard.
