Double Dribbles- 2-3-12

1) Samford's comeback and survive game on the road at Appalachian State had to catch the eye of SoCon fans on Thursday night. Suddenly, the Bulldogs are 5-6 and tied with Appalachian State for third in the North. They are just 1.5 games behind Elon for a bye in the North race. This from a team that was left for dead not that long ago. The Bulldogs have fought and scrapped and made themselves at least an interesting team in the SoCon North. Tyler Hood scored eighteen points for Samford, while Omar Carter and Ike Butts are still coming off the bench for Appalachian State. Those two provided just eleven combined points. Can Samford get a bye? Maybe so. Things are certainly getting interesting in Alabama.

2) Larry Hunter collected win number 100 at Western Carolina in the Catamounts Thursday night win over the Mocs. It is another solid milestone for Hunter, who already won his 600th game of his career this year. The Catamounts have been struggling and there have been a few mutters from WCU fans that they may need to start looking a different direction in coaching. But this milestone shows what he has accomplished in Cullowhee. He has a losing record his career there, but they continue to be a well coached team. Congratulations to Coach Hunter!
