Double Dribbles- 2-16-12

1) Trevis Simpson has some sort of foot injury- apparently a broken toe according to post game comments by Coach Wes Miller. Regardless, the Spartans Player of the Year candidate is not in the lineup for the time being. The Spartans still were able to beat the Cougars by 15, who do not really have the excuse of injuries in this one since Simpson was out. That being said, the Spartans need to get Simpson back as soon as possible or else they will not be considered one of the favorites in the SoCon Tournament. With a bye locked up, the Spartans are certainly one of the big favorites right now. If they get the 1N locked up, and get Simpson back, I don't think any team will really want to play this team in Asheville.

2) Western Carolina hosts The Citadel tonight in another match-up of North vs. South. The South has clinched the regular season battle, but the Bulldogs have just one win on the year in SoCon play. They have clinched the 6S, but would love to come up with a couple of wins before the tournament. The Catamounts are trying to avoid the 6N, as they sit just a half game up on Chattanooga. In fact, they are just 2.5 games behind Samford for the 3N and have a real shot to catch them if they can come up with a win on Thursday night. It's a big night for the Catamounts.
