Double Dribbles-11-17-11

1) Larry Hunter collected win number 600 Tuesday night as Western Carolina beat Montreat. While the game was never in doubt, it is still a nice round number for Hunter. Coach K at Duke got to 903 on the same night, and clearly overshadowed Hunter (which would have happened nationally no matter what), but Hunter should be appreciated for winning 600 games. He's got a 64.9 winning percentage, which is not bad. Only 90 of those wins come at Western Carolina. Hunter should reach 100 career wins at Western Carolina at some point this year, joining Bob McKillop, Bobby Cremins, Jimmy Tillette, Mike Dement, Mike Young, and John Shulman as the coaches in the conference with 100 wins at their current school.

2) Georgia Southern looked a little bit better in losing to Wake Forest by nine points last night. The Eagles dropped to 0-2 and their undoing was their 22 turnovers. Willie Powers was supposed to help the Eagles numerous turnover problems. He turned the ball over four times against the Demon Deacons. The Citadel was much worse at home against an ACC opponent, getting hammered by Clemson. The Tigers were way ahead before The Citadel closed the gap to 23 at the end. So, all in all, not a good set of games for the SoCon. Good news for Georgia Southern- they looked much more like the team people picked to finish third in the South than the team that couldn't get out of the SoCon basement last year.
